WA International Student Flights

Travel information and flight booking for international students

Western Australia is an education destination like no other.

One of the safest places in the world to visit and study in, Western Australia offers quality institutions and programs, a great lifestyle and a wealth of employment opportunities.

We look forward to welcoming international students to Western Australia.

This International Student Travel Portal is being offered by the Western Australian Government to support international students as they return to study in our state. You will find all information about entering WA from overseas and interstate here.

We’re keen to get students the best deal possible on their flights and are working with airlines to offer exclusive prices and affordable flights. The Western Australian Government is also offering a variety of other support for international students, see below for more info.

What now?

Congratulations, you’ve been accepted at a Western Australian education provider. We’re looking forward to welcoming you back!

Under the Western Australian Government’s Safe Transition Plan, international travellers who are fully vaccinated with a TGA approved vaccine can travel to Western Australia after 5 February 2022 without the need to quarantine. You will need to show proof of your COVID-19 vaccination  to travel into Western Australia, both domestically and internationally.

Unvaccinated international students will not be allowed to enter Western Australia.

Book and prepare

STEP 1) Book your preferred flights on this portal. Before starting the booking process, please have the following items ready to ensure the process is as smooth as possible:

  • Passport details including your passport number
  • Student visa details including your Visa Grant Number (VGN)
  • Student Number (given to you by your education provider)
  • A payment method to purchase your flights (accepted methods include all international credit cards and debit cards)
  • You will also need to send a copy of your passport and visa to mice@tasa.com.au in order to confirm your booking

STEP 2) Check entry requirements to Australia and to each Australian State and Territory.

Step one – Book your flight

Choose your preferred flights below and book online with us

Below you will see options to book your flights safely to Australia. If you don’t see a suitable flight option, please send an email to our travel team.

We’re here to help! If you have any issues while booking your flight, please contact our travel team for assistance. Please read the instructions carefully and make sure your details are correct before you finalise your booking.

Step two – Receive your flight summary and e-ticket

Please save your confirmation email and attachment.

You will receive a confirmation email upon the completion of your booking. This email will contain your flight schedule and basic information for travel to Australia.

Your e-ticket will be sent to you once it has been issued by the airline. For ad hoc bookings, this is usually the day of booking. For Group airfares from set locations, this occurs once the groups allocation has been exhausted and all required passenger information has been received. Your e-ticket will provide information on checking in for your flights, baggage allowances, transiting airports and restrictions on liquids ( please note : this e-ticket is not a boarding pass ).

Step three – Prepare for your arrival into Western Australia

Regularly check wa.gov.au for updates on key dates and information on how to prepare for traveling to the State, including COVID-19 testing requirements.

To prepare for your arrival into Western Australia from XX February 2022 you will need to check the latest borders requirements on wa.gov.au. We also invite you to visit the Australian Government’s Department of Home Affairs website for the most up to date information.

ARRIVING IN PERTH

When you have arrived you will need to do a PCR test within 48 hours of arriving in Western Australia and again on day 6.

International travellers who are fully vaccinated with a TGA approved vaccine do not need to quarantine.

Unvaccinated travellers will need to quarantine in a designated facility for 14 days when they arrive in Western Australia.

STEP FOUR – TEST NEGATIVE TO COVID-19

All students must take a COVID-19 test 96 hours and 72 hours before their scheduled departure.

96 Hours – Students are requested to take a COVID-19 test approximately 96 hours before their scheduled flight departure. Please note that this test does not need to be a PCR test and can be a self-administered test, or a test taken at your local testing facility.

If you receive a positive COVID result you will be unable to travel and will need to contact the FCM Travel Team immediately, this will allow your seat to be resold to another student. Please refer to the FAQs page of the cancellation policy.

72 Hours – A negative COVID-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test result is required for travel to Australia. Evidence of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken 72 hours before your flight’s scheduled departure must be provided to your airline when you check in.

If your flight is delayed, you will still be considered to have met the pre-departure testing requirements. You will not need a new test.

Please refer to the Australian Department of Health website for information on what must be shown in your COVID-19 PCR laboratory test result record, the preferred format for your test result record, what to do in the event of a positive or inconclusive test and what to do if you are a primary close contact of someone who has tested positive to COVID-19.

Your airline or local health authority can provide you with a list of recognised clinics, hospitals, or testing centres where you can get tested.

Public health and social measures

Please regularly check wa.gov.au for the latest updates and information on COVID-19 in Western Australia. Here is a guide to help you manage COVID in WA.  You can also access translated advice on the current public health and social measures in place here.

SAFEWA App and contact registers

The WA Government’s SafeWA app is an easy way for people to use QR codes to check-in at businesses and venues to help with contact tracing. The app is available for download on the App Store and the Google Play store. A paper contact register will also be available at most businesses.
