2010 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix

It was eight long years in waiting but Australia finally got back to the summit of Moto GP Racing. Italian wizard Valentino Rossi, himself a five-time world champion, could only watch as our own Casey Stoner powered his Ducati to the top of the 2007 MotoGP Riders Championship.
And the achievement was made sweeter still after Stoner went on to claim his debut win on home soil when he beat Loris Capirossi to the line to claim the 2007 Australian MotoGP at Phillip Island.
Stoner, now 25, gave the huge Phillip Island crowd the result they had hoped for by becoming the first Aussie rider to triumph in the premier class since the great Mick Doohan won the 500cc race back in 1998.
When asked about his crowning as World Champion, Stoner said "At the moment it all feels a little bit unrealistic! I'm struggling for words, I don't think there's any feeling that can compare to this"
In supporters terms, about the only thing that could compare is being there to witness it yourself.
